REFLEXOLOGY & STRESS

Many of us lead very hectic lifestyles and the demands put on us seem to be increasing at a considerable rate. As a result, stress including anxiety and worry can build up without us being aware that this is happening.

If we fail to manage it, Stress can have a very negative effect on the body, disturbing our healthy mental and physical well-being, compromising our immune system and therefore leaving us more susceptible to illness. By using either foot or hand Reflexology, on a regular basis you can help relieve Stress by encouraging a state of deep relaxation whereby the organs, glands, nerves and overall body systems are balanced. Through the relaxation process, the body is more capable of dealing with the stresses placed upon it.

Reflexology is a technique of applying a light and gentle pressure to certain reflex points and areas on the hands and feet. This light pressure applied aims to stimulate the body’s own healing processes and helps a person’s body regain balance and well-being.

Holistic treatments work in a very different way to conventional medicine, I will try and establish what is causing the problem by considering your life or life-style as a whole. Contributing factors such as your working hours, the type of job you have, your diet, the amount of exercise you carry out could be causing a negative effect on your body resulting in a particular condition or simply making you feel ‘out of sorts’.

It is important to realise that often holistic treatments are spread over a period of time, rather than a ‘quick fix’. Although, treating yourself to one Reflexology treatment can no doubt be very relaxing and rewarding for your health.

It is my role, as the therapist, to get to the root of the problem and ensure that you understand the impact of your life-style, which as a result can help you make better choices in your day to day living. I personally feel that Reflexology is like a partnership, it requires thought on both sides to achieve the best possible result, and that result being a healthier mind and body.
